Jameson Cold Brew – What’s In It?

Produced in Ireland, Jameson is a popular whiskey. This new cold brew whiskey takes their triple-distilled Jameson Irish Whiskey and adds in natural cold brew. The result is a smooth, tasty drink with the intense aroma of coffee.

The cold-brewed coffee that Jameson adds to this whiskey is made from 100% Arabica beans from Colombia and Brazil. We’re not talking about a coffee flavoring – this is the real coffee deal.

Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coffee grounds in room temperature water for extended times, even up to 24 hours.

Cold brew is different from iced coffee, which is hot coffee brewed over ice. In which there’s no long brewing time to allow the flavors to develop.

With cold brew, the extended brew time makes for a coffee that’s smooth and full of flavor.

Adding that coffee blend to Jameson whiskey provides the best flavor compliment. In addition to the coffee and chocolate flavor, you get the nutty vanilla flavors from the whiskey.

That makes for an Irish whiskey that’s bold and caffeinated. Full-bodied and yet smooth, it has hints of toasted oak and dark chocolate. It’s an Irish coffee that makes an ideal way to wind down after a full day of work.

How much alcohol and caffeine does it have?

Just how much alcohol does this Irish whiskey give you?

This bottle has a 30% alcohol by volume (ABV) content, which is a little lower than the normal 40% ABV. I guess you could call this bottle of coffee and whiskey a hard brew.

But this is an Irish whiskey that provides an additional kick of caffeine. Each 1.5 ounce serving has 17 mg of caffeine. That’s the same amount of caffeine you’ll get in half an espresso shot.

Which sounds a bit odd because who drinks half an espresso shot? But the point is that it’s not that much caffeine, which makes it ideal to add to an evening cocktail with no worries of staying up late with an intense caffeine boost.

With no added sugar, the combination of coffee and chocolate notes makes this drink seem like a dessert with no guilt.

How should you drink it?

You can stick with the classic Irish whiskey taste and drink it chilled or over ice. But while it’s good over the rocks, it’s amazing in cocktails.

With this cold-brewed coffee whiskey, making an Irish coffee drink is as simple as mixing it with cream (or milk) and ice. But if you want to go all out, try some fancier cold brew Jameson drinks that are still a cinch to create at home.
