This shows in their packaging, sourcing, and of course, their coffee.

Like other roasters, they offer ground coffee, but their single-serve coffee pods make them unique; they are made from 100% biodegradable, eco-friendly materials.

They also source their coffee from a variety of farms that preserve the local environment and support the livelihood of the workers.

Regardless if you’re looking for a one-off purchase or a monthly sub, you can get it at Tayst.

Their compostable coffee capsules are compatible with Keurig and Nespresso coffee makers, fixing one of the shared dislikes of single serves – environmental waste.

Ordering your coffee capsules is a breeze, and delivery is usually 3-5 working days. When it comes to the sub, you can freely adjust the quantity, preferred coffee taste, and frequency of your subscription box at any time once you setup your account.

The Coffee Assortment

Want a mellow coffee for the evening and a strong brew for your mornings? Tayst Coffee has got you covered with a variety of coffee flavors and regular brews.

Their K-Cup coffee pods are available either as a dark roast, medium roast, flavored, and decaf. Prices start off at $22, which can buy you 30 coffee capsules per box, good enough for a daily mug of coffee for a month.

If you’re craving for more, you can increase your order by 10 coffee capsules, with their most popular package having enough for 50 cups of coffee. In my opinion, that amount is good enough for one or two coffee aficionados, but if you’re in a coffee-loving household or office, you’re going to need more.

Prefer to use a French Press or drip coffee machine? They also offer their ground coffee in one 10.5 oz cans, which can brew up to 20 cups.

While unfortunately, they don’t provide free shipping, the charge isn’t excessive for good-quality coffee. Although, take note that shipping costs may vary depending on how many coffee capsules you order, so it’s best to keep track of your purchases.

Tasters or Subscription Boxes?

Still wondering if you’re ready to take the plunge? You’ll also have the option to try out the Tayst Coffee Sampler box, which includes their selection of bold, medium, and flavored coffee pods. This box can be shipped directly to your door with a free mug to match.

Tayst Coffee will email you around two weeks after receiving your sampler box. This will let you that your introduction package will auto-upgrade into their 40 cup coffee bundle. But, you can pause, change or cancel your account at any time without an issue.

If you do continue buying coffee subscription boxes, you’ll save at least 10% – 15% per shipment compared to one-off purchases. Most user reviews report that their coffee subscription box is usually delivered on time, with some receiving their orders even after a day from ordering! Each box also gets a handwritten thank-you note with every delivery, which adds a personal touch to the brand tool.

If you need any gear, you can also purchase other coffee accessories such as cold brew canisters and containers for your coffee pods.

Taste

It seems like a decent deal so far, but how do their beans stand up in our Tayst Coffee Review?

Tayst Coffee has seven different flavors for their single-serve coffee pods to mix and match for your subscription box.

While this isn’t gourmet specialty coffee, and there might be a limited selection, the coffee quality is still pretty decent. As long as you’re not after products that explode with flavor like a high-quality single origin specialty bean and are after convenience – this will be up your street.

For coffee lovers who want a kick in their morning cup of coffee, you can choose between two brews from their Bold and Dark line-up.

Their Bold & Brazen coffee blend is the richest out of all their selections, with hints of smoky dark chocolate in a silky body and low acidity. If you’re after a more complex dark roast, their Bold & Brilliant coffee offers a unique coffee Tayst (get it?) with sweet notes of cocoa and black currant and undertones of sweet caramel.

Some might find the flavors of a dark roast to be too rich for their palate. If that’s the case for you, then the Mellow and Medium line of coffee pods might be up your alley.

Sourced from South America, their Medium & Heroic blend features crisp acidity and vanilla sweetness with hints of almond, ending with a wine-like finish. It’s my favorite blend in our Tayst Coffee Review since the coffee’s brightness is balanced with subtle complexities of flavor.

Citrusy and chocolatey, the Medium & Magnificent blend adds a bit of complexity to your coffee with notes of hazelnut, caramel, and even black pepper.

Flavored Coffee Products

If you’re after flavored brews, Tayst coffee has a small but interesting selection.

The brand uses the same beans from their premium blends in their Vintage Vanilla Cream and Happy Hazelnut coffees. If you’re a fan of super sweet coffee, then this is for you.

The Vintage Vanilla Cream uses a South American blend infused with natural vanilla oils during the grinding process to preserve the flavor in each bean during the grinding process. Expect tasting notes of custard cream with hints of caramel and a light body.

For the Happy Hazelnut uses the same infusion process but with natural Hazelnut oil. You’ll smell the aroma from a mile away, and the natural flavors lead to a full-bodied and creamy cup.

Looking for a decaf? Their Defiantly Decaf coffee is processed using the Swiss Water Method, which preserves all the coffee’s inherent sweetness while removing 99.9% of its caffeine.

With that said, the downside towards brewing a K-Cup or coffee capsule is that the flavor might be lackluster and thin to some. Don’t worry, as you won’t have any problems with these single-serve coffee pods due to the bean’s quality and the capsule itself. Their assortment of flavors tastes exactly how it should, and this is backed by an impressive set of customer reviews and comments.

Sustainability

Not only do they deliver high-quality coffee subscription boxes, but they also provide your coffee in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner, from the packaging to the coffee itself.

Through a year of research, the brand came up with a way to make their products out of 100% biodegradable materials, including the lid, ring, and mesh.

The lid is made out of bio-materials and water-based compostable ink, which means there’s no chemicals leaching into the soil. Each coffee pod’s ring is constructed from compressed cornstarch mixed with a bio-resin that can easily degrade and compost. Instead of a punch hole like a regular Keurig K-Cup or other name brands, they use a wire mesh made from bio-resins that allow perfect extraction for a more flavorful coffee experience.

One thing to note that while their products are biodegradable, Tayst Coffee recommends disposing of them correctly for efficient composting. You can compost the capsules at home, but it may take a longer duration for the materials to break down.

What makes them stand out in our Tayst Coffee review is their dedication to sourcing high-quality beans from different coffee farms certified by the Rainforest Alliance.

The standards set by the Rainforest Alliance help preserve the local ecosystem where your coffee is harvested. This certification also ensures to deliver financial welfare to the growers and their family too.

The Final Verdict

That’s the end of our Tayst Coffee review, and hopefully, it helped you decide if it’s the right coffee brand for you.

If you’re after gourmet standard single-origin Ethiopians, this isn’t for you. But, if you’re looking for fresh and decent single serves – their coffee subscription boxes are worth investigating.
